These were really well made 2Ds not like the modern junk of today!

Definately the better built era of bulkhead.

When did the 2D lamp first come out? I have seen plenty of these in abandon buildings that have been left for well over 20 years?? Again more companies making cheaper and cheaper stuff pushes the price down. Maybe we should start making our own. Switch start low loss and built to last!?

Thorn launched the 2D in 1983. I remember seeing one for the first time in a Rumbelows shop window! Very Happy There really was nothing else like it!

I have the 2DFV16 opal, but I've never seen a prismatic version before. Did they make the 2DFV28 in prismatic options too? I'd love to get my mits all over one of the prismatic ones. It'd be interesting to see whether they made the 2DOOY16 oyster bulkhead in Prismatic too, and bigger 2DOOY28 models. I've never seen a prismatic option for the OOY16, or indeed a 28W version, but there may be examples out there.

I remember the opal versions used on the walls in the doorways at my old high school. Nice fittings and always worked fine.

All the flats around here have the opal bulkheads. Yellowed as anything and they still put out some good light. Brilliant made lights these

LOL Rumbelows!! I remember them, speaking of keys, I did have a triangle street lighting key at age 13, not that I....er.... used it on anything....., nice bulkheads.

beauties Paul. They are one of my fave bulkheads I must admit. School was full of the opal ones with the odd prismatic one. These and the early fibreglass 70w SONPAK. Quality gear!

Oh Yes, quality 80's kit LOL

All the years I've seen these fine old bulkheads this is the ONLY prismatic version I've seen outside the catalogue!
Paul   [Jun 16, 2012 at 11:54 PM]
Yeah - it is indeed Tom!
Dave   [Jun 16, 2012 at 11:55 PM]
Same here. I'd love one of those examples.
