Comments: | I have a new Thorn twin 2' 40W ballast and I decided to hook two 4' 40W tubes up to it instead, I didn't expect it to work but surprisingly both tubes struck instantly and they both appear to run fine although they are a little dim. Please |

That is a surprise! I would've expected nothing more than four glowing ends! Maybe a series switchsart circuit is possible with suitable ballast and possibly using thermal or electronic starters as low voltage glow starters wouldn't work on 4' tubes!

I dunno tom the series starters work on 2X2'40W

I still don't understand how this happened! I've tried it again though and got it to work! Usually you need a supply voltage about double that of the lamp voltage for the lamp to light!
