When they say green, is that for efficiency, i.e, a plus version, or is that the colour?, as I can see a starting band on it?

That's a monster of a SON lamp. I imagine these are quite expensive.

Its "Green" because this is actually a plant growth lamp for greenhouses. Paul, you will need a step-up transformer because this one has an arc tube voltage of about 220V, it will cycle on regular 600W gear! It should be used on 380/415V mains circuits.

Cool, thats an awsome size compared to the usual 400/600W versions, my original question was a bit dumb! , when was the last time I saw a green SON...... Embarrassed

Thanks for the info James! Isn't this a 1kw lamp? I have 1kw SON gear.

Lit pic lit pic lit pic Very Happy, the 50watt Masters are bright, can you imagine what this will look like!!!!
Paul   [Apr 26, 2014 at 09:44 PM]
I'll light it if I can get confirmation on the control gear Wink

James has a point, a standard 1KW SON-T only runs with an arc voltage of 110, this could be a different gas pressure to get more of the blue end of the spectrum for plants?

Rich is back in to lighting with a vengeance!!!! Very Happy these 1Kw SON lamps would be good in my polytunnels! When I get them fixed!

Funny thing is, although my interest was low over the last months, I had a strange empty feeling, not going on here, or doing anything light related!
Sounds like your gonna need to put another heavy cable in Kev? Rolling Eyes
Linear_SLI   [Apr 27, 2014 at 12:13 AM]
By the way Kev, did you know your polytunnels are visible from 2000 feet on Google earth! :woohoo: , if it wasn`t for them I would NEVER have found your farm Very Happy

Ha ha yes I do! I have been recovering them too I have 2 new sheets here to go on when we get some decent weather poor al thought he could drive in to Summercourt and see them from the village! Lol there is only 1 tiny little back road that you can see them from! Wink

Also Paul you would need to borrow a phase from your neighbour to be able to run this. I would like 3 phase put in down the bottom here really!

Thanks for the info guys, I did feel a bit of a tit questioning James' advice but it makes sense now. If you would have a use for the lamp Kev, you are welcome to have it. I took it as I thought it looked awesome! Looks like I won't be able to light it either now so for me it is just a visual piece.
