That's a monster! Stunning tube! I think Jay has one! Love that old Aussie Philps too!

Amazing find. If you found this at that demo shop that must mean there could be a T17 fitting in there.

This picture really shows the huge girth of the T17! Shocked

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. This is stored wrapped up in the corrugated cardboard wrapping it came in which is in turn stored in a length of PVC downpipe as I have NO CHANCE of ever finding another if this one breaks. Apparently they used to be a common sight in Australia but by the 1960's, T12 had taken over. I have hunted high and low through the demolition shop for anything more T17 related, lampholders, ballasts, starters, fittings etc but so far nothing. I really want to find a pair of lampholders so I can at least fabricate a fitting for it. I have the ballasts and starter sorted, luckily. I'm still on the hunt for any BC tubes too but haven't found any. I honestly thought I'd find BC tubes before I'd ever find a T17.

Makes the T12 look like a T8!

I should put it next to one of my T2's, my biggest tube vs my smallest.

Awesome find! T17's are a pretty amazing sight Cool (I've got some of the 40w version, have a one rigged up to a 2-lamp F32T8 HF ballast - wired for 2x overdrive of a single lamp)

I'd love to get hold of a T17 fitting (or even just the lampholders, as i could then build my own)

@Al_M Whats the longest T2 lamp they make? (longest I've seen on eBay was around 20-inches, is that it?) LOL I'd love to have one of those little thin lights - especially if they make something close to 4-footer

Thanks Jay, yeah this was a once in a lifetime find here. The longest T2 I've seen is the 13w (which I have) which is 20.7".
