Comments:Latest Malaysian made incarnation of this iconic plugtop alongside the British made original which had remained largely unchanged for decades! I've been using these plugs on my disco kit since the 90s and they've lived up to their name. Not too happy about the latest design though. Gone are those lovely big terminals! However at least they have kept the automatic cordgrip!

shame the clamp terminals are gone, they were the best things about the MK plugs i think

Good comparison Tom! The MK Toughplugs are one of my all time favourite plug tops! I've always found the post terminals to be far superior to the more common pillar type, a shame to see they've ditched them!

Cheers Eliot! I had an inkling MK pioneered the 13 amp plug as we know it! I must say I'm pretty pee'd off by this design change. Think I'll be buying Permaplug from now on. I've also got a few Marbo plugs still in service but they've disappeared off the planet! Re the post terminals, I've NEVER known them to work loose unlike the pillar type!

old MK plugs are class! love the terminals on them! I've got a few white bakelite that have the clamp terminals and a couple toughplugs in black and white. the hospital used to used these throughout with 'hospital property' etched on, they were mainly red but I've seen them in white and blue too - my friend in the mortuary is gonna try and sweet talk maintenance and try and get me some - she thinks I'm bonkers!
