Proper street lighting!, where does all the crap come from in the bowl?, I bet theres a good light distribution from these, any night shot on the road of these Al?

I don't think these have any sealing left between the glass and the body anymore Rich. I didn't think to get a pic of the road beneath it although because of the rubbish in the bowl it wouldn't be much. There's a bloody big sign next to it that doesn't help, here's the Streetview pic.

Absolutely love the bowl on that! Perfect as it wont yellow with age!

I actually thought at first sight that it was a lantern with the bowl hanging open!

That is an odd looking lantern! Never seen one like it here but I love it!! It's MBF!!! :woohoo: Like a MBF-SOX crossbreed!

This is the only info I've been able to find on it. I have some pics of the other two I've found down on the Gold Coast if anyone is interested. One still has a clear tubular MV lamp in it (of course, I have a night pic of it too!).

never seen one like in Lothian Region but nice pic built to last

love this lantern al

Luckily this is safely in the hands of a fellow Australian collector. The streetlight crew even dropped it off at his house with a ribbon tied around it!

That's great news Al! Haha that's nice of them! Such a thing would NEVER happen here!

Normally wouldn't happen here either Tom, James has got to know the crew well and he really perseveres to rescue a particular lantern and his tenaciousness pays off sometimes. In Australia, approaching the office people only gets you BS about possible asbestos right before they say no. Here it is .
