Very nice! A most unusual fitting and quickstart to boot. Very Happy

Scrubbed up well! Is that staying up there!?
SuperSix   [Oct 29, 2012 at 09:44 PM]
Thanks chaps! I just gave it a bloody good scrub and it's turned out awesome!

I couldn't possibly say Tom! Razz There's been that many fittings put up and taken down!

Amazing! Got some closeup / internal pics?

It'll be good to know what this model was called. Appears to be from the Superslim era. I've only seen a few of these, 4' only! Interesting lampholders on these!

this is an AL.104 I have about 7 of them left
SuperSix   [Oct 29, 2012 at 10:01 PM]
Thanks! I'll try and take some Paul!

Cheers Gav! Where did you find these?

I'd love one of these. what a weird lookign fitting.
Zelandeth   [Oct 29, 2012 at 10:55 PM]
Interesting old fitting that one. What gear does this one run? Would be interesting to see if it's the same Choke and QS unit as in my 4' 40W QS fittings, looks like it would just about fit. Must be a heavy beast for its size!

I spoke too soon about the gear! Neutral Was running fairly quietly last night, got up this morning, switched it on and it was ridiculously loud! So loud that my parents heard it through two closed doors and both shouted 'What the bloody hell is that noise!?'.

I've rather reluctantly fitted a new Tridonic EC36 and it's now complete silent.

Better working than not though. awesome light. I sooo wish i could have one.

I'd say it still has many years left in it, there's no signs of overheating, the coils have just loosened up somewhat.

PMSL - 'What the bloody hell is that noise!?'. That's the sort of comments my parents used to make!
SuperSix   [Oct 30, 2012 at 08:46 PM]
LMAO yes! After explaining what it was, Mum was quick to say 'oh it's not a fire risk is it!?' and 'but what if it busts into flames while we're out!?'
Paul   [Oct 30, 2012 at 08:56 PM]
Haha! Another similar comment! I was once told if I wasn't careful, a 4w torch would set fire to my bed!!

LMFAO Our passion for lighting has a habit of worrying/frightening our parents! I remember when I installed the Thorn 28w 2D Vivatronic bulkhead in our shower room and firing it up for the first time... 'are you sure it's meant to make that noise!?'

That looks awesome Smile would be great fitted with a old thorn, or atlas/ekco tube... another to add to my (unlikely to happen) wishlist Rolling Eyes
