Ahh Childhood memories of these in Blackpool UK, and Rhyl North Wales this light is a GEC Z8387 For use with three 5 foot. 65 watt or 80 watt fluorescent tubes. The Bottom Tube is deliberately Clipped near the bottom bowl to give the slopeing look, possibly to reduce shadow from the bowl.

Thanks Colin

Hi Kev, next time I'm over that way I'll give it a try, I don't think it's going anywhere in a hurry...
Yes that would be good, I bet at least one or 2 tubes still work, Mind you that is a BLOODY big lantern! Looks like it weighs a ton!
Yeah the ballasts alone would weigh a ton.
Is it still used? Is it me or does it look like it has some water in the bowl?
I thought it was a refractor Plate which became dislodged from the Bowl, as you can see whe white Glue mark where is was origionally.
Ah yes! I see it now!

There is one of these hanging on for dear life at the what was Bedford bus station... the place is being redeveloped and the station has been demolished already. I did give CP a heads up that this was at risk but I don't know if it got saved or not.

Why not get it yourself?
