I miss what used to be the common sight of Thorn Pluslux and Polylux tubes. Still see the odd one in service which is good! Smile

I know what you mean Andy! It was 93/4 when GE branded tubes burst onto the scene. Remember Paul showing me a new GE F36/35 and telling me 'This is what Thorn tubes have been reduced to!' We then both then sat down on the sofa and nearly cried! The iconic tubes we had grown up with.... Gone!!

LOL @ Tom, not sure cried is the word! Laughing

I still see some about in shops! One I went in today actually and they've still got the odd one in the 4x 4' surface fittings! Open 6 days a week, 10 hours a day!

These later ones like this never seem to get that black either! Just keep on going with moderately darkened ends and badly degraded phosphor.

This particular one came from Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge last week, along with another I saved and a few that I've left in the bin, presumably still in use until now. Phosphor looks a bit dark when unlit but I've polished the caps and the glass and it really looks the part in this PP!

Surprised they weren't Polylux 4000s being from a hospital! Now that would've been phwoarsome! Very Happy It's great that survivors are still out there exceeding 20 years service! These really are the Atlas Supers of T8s!
