Looks like they were rather cool fittings! Proper build quality, nice old Atlas 3' T12 tubes (!) and those big 4 pin starters! Would still be going strong today!

Maybe, but you try convincing the missus to having a pair of those in the living room!! Good Luck!!

I'm sure her indoors would be happy if one was to use warm coloured tubes such as 830 or the old deluxe warm white/softone tubes!

Lol my GF wouldnt have a choice they would be up. Also i agree tom these would still be going strong today! No problem at alll! One of these VS a new Thorn Pop pack

Thats something you don't see these days. A damn good fitting that the mfgs actually bothered with design - all seem to be generic "pop pack" designs these days. I'd love to have a front room like that. Note no TV, fire being the focal point of the room and a gramaphone tucked away in the corner for Sunday listening.

One extreme to the other! Back then you would have had all those `blackout` nights during the war, to a flood lit living room 3 years later!! , imagine these in a living room today?

Just seen these beauties again! Would almost certainly had Atlas Peach tubes installed as they were the suggested colour for domestic use! What a sight that would've been!
