Unknown 1Kw MV High Mast Lighting

This is the one that still had all three lamps working. Lamps on this pole are elliptical.

Yeah, I should've got a night pic of the road while I was there. It wasn't that bright as they are in need of a relamp; some were out and the rest were past their prime and greenish.

I have often wondered why MBFR were not used more in road lighting?, they seem the perfect lamp for the job.

I suppose being able to chose the right optics for the right job is a lot more convenient.

True, but in the days when they moved from MB to MBF, there were no optics, so a 125watt MBFR would have lit the road better than the standard 125watt MBF?

If it was mounted very high it might work but its still pointing down and even the earlyest lanterns has basic diffraction rings to throw the light along the road.
