Comments:It's almost criminal! Nabbed all these from a WEEE skip at the local wholesalers. All tested and appear to work 100%. Why the hell were they skipped!? In the same skip there were 40+ 2ft & 40+ 4ft Osram 840 T8's that all appeared to be fine! Couldn't get those sadly.

Shocked Shocked WHAT!!!, Jesus, why do I never find stuff like this?, only 4 of them appear to have had use, nice find, now go put on in a coach lantern at the front of the house! Rolling Eyes

They've all been used as in tested, but before that I don't think they were. Would you like a couple Rich?

Probably find they were on electronic ballasts and the ballasts had popped, someone then comes along oh lets just change the lamps oh they still don't work. Nothing we can do then a couple months later someone else comes back to do the proper repairs changes the ballast and puts a second new lamp in unaware that someone has been there before and previously changed the lamp in a desperate attempt to get the lights working.....seen this happen sooooooo many times!

Hmmm.... Tom & I did wonder if that was the case.

They do this at work with the 400 halides, they put a new lamp in, only to find the ignitor fried, then they bin the (new) lamp, the gear, and re fit with a spiral mega!, I have found about 10 NOS 400watt halide lamps in the WEEE bin!!

What a waste, but glad you saved them. There must be so much new and unused stuff which is just chucked away. Mad

This is normal though! Working at a wholesalers I see it daily! Probably about 80% of the tubes still work in the bins too!

Lee said when he was in Germany it wasn't like that they get full use out of all their lamps! The only lamps in the WEEE bin were EOL

Figures, the UK and the US are the biggest wasters on the planet Confused , for years here, the SOX re-lamping cycle was 2 years, and this was in the days when GECs SuperSOX was the norm, imagine all the quarter used lamps they binned!

An example of a discharge lamp using that mysterious glass pellet...
