Just perfection Paul, interesting to see all these odd ball wattages coming out of the woodwork too!

450W and 265W used to be the standard ratings for MA lamps on the continent. Reason was that discharge lamps over here used to be sold by lumens instead of by Watts, and they wanted nice round lumen numbers. The MA's here were thus 10,000 and 20,000 lumens, slightly higher than the British 8,250 and 16,000 lumens. Later when EU came into line with the rest of the world their lamps were re-rated to the IEC wattages. Now things have gone full circle and since 2012 its compulsory to mark lamps with the lumens again, and IEC as well as the Global Lamp Forum is beginning to debate having standardised luminous flux instead of wattage intervals for new lamp develoments! Really this makes more sense to me, you should specify a lamp by how much light you need rather than how much power you want it to consume!
