Speaking of technology and school, always had to laugh at teachers struggling to work Video recorders & computers in the 80s, usually having to be rescued by one of their pupils! My web page that I am building has some of my old tech from the 70s & 80s.

Amazing how far things have come! Not tech related but I came across two old Coke cans yesterday, with ring pulls! Something I haven't seen since I was very little! Surprised

Wow! So true! Imagine what it will be like in 2034!

Haha Rob I remember teachers struggling with videos at school too lol! And they were always locked away in those big Unicol cabinets on the TV stands! We finally got our first VCR in 1985, after Dad had decided that VHS was the way to go! It was a top loader too haha! And we were renting it from Radio Rentals! Those were the days! Eliot, those cans are antiquated now! A friend of ours was foxed by one of those ring pulls a few years ago and he's 24 lol. Who else remembers that frustrating moment when the ring would snap off the can? And you'd have to stab it open with keys/pen/screwdriver?

I own both one of those hi fi separates and the calculator to the lower left corner...20 years on and they still work perfect. The current tech which replaces that lot won't still be going in ten years...never mind 20! Edit...just spotted the Sony Watchman, have one of those too.

I have a few bits of interesting 70s and 80s electronic tech myself. I hope it's alright for me to link my own website here which has some examples in the gallery section. Still got items to add over time and plan to get more items.

Love your new site Rob! I've never seen a Watchman pocket TV in the flesh? Were they a miniature CRT as well as LCD variations? LOL one would need hooking up to a bloody great Freeview box to see anything now!

It is CRT based, with a flat tube. Really clever bit of glasswork. Sadly it's in storage at the moment, can snap some photos when we're in the house and start to unpack though.

Thanks Tom! Still a fair bit to add to it Wink
