Comments:These fluorescent lanterns were a very common site around Crosby and Waterloo (Merseyside) in residential roads until the mid 1980s when they were replaced by Philips MI50 SOX. Except for this one, mounted on the side of a building. This hasn't been lit for decades, wonder what tubes it has? It's suffering from water ingress and it's easy to see why, part of the seal has come away and is hanging in the bowl. Had an interesting time trying to photo this from the car without looking too obvious. First through the windscreen which was a failure as the camera kept focusing on the quick clear elements! Finally repositioned the car and managed to get a decent pic from the passenger window. I'm sure my behaviour must have appeared odd to anyone watching but know what, I don't care!

Whoah! What a beauty! Any chance of a rescue?

Very nice! You gotta try and save that! Can't be many of those around!

That appears to be in pretty good order given the years it has been left alone. I'm sure a re-application of power and new tubes and it'll fire up! You just know there's a couple of vintage 40 watters in there!
