Wonder if it's possible to use the choke only in a SS set up??

Interesting! I thought 8' 85w gear was either an all-in-one QS ballast or SRS! Looking at the diagram suggests the choke is a supplementary winding to the QS tranny. Probably the only way a slim section setup could be made to fit in the likes of Pop Packs and Clippers as apposed to the huge great lumps in the 85w Atlantics?

The choke must be from when Thorn were going all out on low loss gear set ups, like when they changed it in the Beta 5.
