That looks one of the last Atlas control gears made? Very good condition.

Never seen an Atlas one before? Shocked

Much better than Tridonics latest PRC offerings. Reckon it would have a good life actually

Yes I expect this was made pretty well compared to comtemporary stuff being churned out!

I do take these out regular I've posted loads up with atlas ballasts. The 2x70W are shocking and the 2x58/55 suffer badly with dry joints

I'll see how well it cooks an EOL tube soon. I think this is the first time I've seen one with only 3 lamp connections!
Kev   [Jul 02, 2015 at 06:53 AM]
Yes me too! It should go til loss of vacumme?
SuperSix   [Jul 05, 2015 at 05:04 PM]
Seems these don't do a lot to a failing tube, just make it shimmer pretty wildly! They also struggle at starting some new or slightly mercury starved ones too.
Kev   [Jul 05, 2015 at 07:20 PM]
What do they do just go out? They don't fry them til EOL then?
SuperSix   [Jul 05, 2015 at 08:14 PM]
Yeah, well I've only had one tube to try it with but it lights for a few minutes, starts to flicker quite badly then goes out.

I remember exactly the same thing when I was at school Danny, with some of the old Philips HF Performers!
Kev   [Jul 05, 2015 at 08:18 PM]
The HF Perforner is a programmed start and should auto shut down the HF Basic is the instant start tube killer
