Filename: | TEI_PIAZZA.jpg |
Album name: | SuperSix / My Files |
Manufacturer: | Thorn EMI |
Power Consumption: | 70W |
Working Voltage: | 240V |
Comments: | Rescued this a few days ago. Needlessly replaced by some imbecile along with two others as they apparently didn't work. All three had been relamped with MBIs yet it clearly states inside the fitting to use SON-Is |

ROFL Davy recons thats a common practice with some street lighting engineers too!
Doesn't surprise me! The ammount of stuff I've seen put out for scrap as 'failed' which has been relamped incorrectly is ridiculous! Worst one was a pallet load of Fitzgerald 4x 18W Gridpacks with the majority fitted with FS-Us!

My local hospital has converted the Piazzas to LED, with some ring ding China things in!, the ones that still have all their diodes running, look quite good!

Some electricians know so shockingly little, it leaves me wondering what must have gone through their mind to make them deicde to become an electrician
Yes lighting seems to be a real issue these days, with most of their knowledge comming from the wholesalers!
Nice save. An electrician called to work to do some jobs installed some T8s in the 1960s quick start fittings in the basement which of course didn't work. He then wanted to replace all the fittings. I bought some T12s from the DIY store in my earlier photo and had them in no time.

Lol yes most just want to replace everything. We have had guys at our work quote to replace water heaters like heatray sadia multi point 30s £1000 water heaters that simply needed a new thermostat! CRAZY!!! I've seen that too Eliot in one of the B&Q stores that was an ELECTRICIAN who WE employed as I was too busy to go and fix some series cat 2 4 lampers who fitted 4-80W and said the fittings were all knacked! FFS no one wants to repair anything or they simply don't know how too!!

Much like that with computers!
@paul I find violence works best with computers!
I agree! Punched mine so hard the power cut out yesterday, problem had gone after!
My 'tiny' network of 30 computers in this house can cause problems... Suspiciously, they always seem to occur at my brother's end...
sadly actually fixing things seems to be a dying art most sparkys will just replace fittings these days for the sake of a choke or ignitor

These has to be my best bulkhead. I bought one NOS of ebay about 3 years ago. It came with a GE LUCALOX 1997
I agree Davy went past the town and country Nissan garage a few months back one of the fibergss SONPAKS was out. They suffer with ignitors now there is some vial POS new thorn there.
I agree kev i've got one of thoes new grey piazza 2 and the bloody nut to open the cover has complietly rounded what cr@p Can't open the bloody thing now
I've only ever worked on one of them. It was full of water lol. They are crap those new piazzas. I'm fitting a NOS one tomorrow!
My god there's some serious lighting muppetry going on these days! If scrapping perfectly good fittings over a £7 ignitor isn't bad enough, I can't believe there's the lunacy of using FSUs instead of S2s in series twin circuits!
