I've surprised myself now, I've tried an 18W warmwhite tube in here to get a feel of what a 20W would be like but it does look a little overilluminated with the 40W tube too, tried cool white and that's a little too cold and I've actually found the bog standard white to be the best option I'm normally banging on about how crap it looks!
Supersix - you'll have to let us know how you Dad reacts LOL and I vote that you should change you avatar back to the Atlas lamp!!

Standard "shite white" is an odd one. On some surfaces (normally white ones) that it reflects off, it looks gross. However with a bit of colour involved, like the wall and ceiling here, I find its appearance is transformed.
