Very nice! Loving that Atlas poster!! Very Happy My dad nearly had my bits on a plate when I installed a 5' Arrow-slim in my room when I was 12! Laughing

Thanks! Lol I love the bulgy eyed steroetypical couple on that poster! Razz Hahaha, did you get to keep the arrow-slim up or was it taken down?

I've surprised myself now, I've tried an 18W warmwhite tube in here to get a feel of what a 20W would be like but it does look a little overilluminated with the 40W tube too, tried cool white and that's a little too cold and I've actually found the bog standard white to be the best option Surprised I'm normally banging on about how crap it looks!

Nice - reminds me of when I put up a T12 lightpack in my bedroom as a teenager. I put it up while my parents were out and I was so chicken sh*t I had taken it down by the time they had got back 6 hours later! Spookily it looks almost the same as the walls in my room were the same colour!

I was DEFINATLY in primary school because i rememeber having my first girl friend over and showing her lol I had a Massive 2' Twin, a Thorn PP218 a Concord Silverline 1x20W a Tamlite 1x18W and a Clipper 1x20W plus various emergency lights lol I will get photos

@kev LOL did she do the usual thing girlfriends do when they see that and run for the hills?!?! Laughing
Supersix - you'll have to let us know how you Dad reacts LOL and I vote that you should change you avatar back to the Atlas lamp!! Cool
st_tdci's last girlfriend expressed concern on the amount of electrical equipment in his bedroom lol

LMFAO!!! Is there any ceiling left in that room? I'm not sure if he's seen it yet or not, me Mum has and she wasn't the slightest bit bothered, I did take my street lantern down though so that should compensate! I'll get me old avatar back up right away then Cool

@Eliot My Dad ordered me to take that Arrowslim down LOL! I remember being being downstairs when I heard the yell 'Thomas!!!!!!!!' from upstairs! He was fuming with rage, especially as the room had recently re-decorated complete with new plasterboard ceiling! However, all was not lost as coincidently, I fitted an LP20 a year later which was 'a more appropiate size' which did'nt need extrat holes as mentioned! That fitting remained right through to my early 20s! Very Happy

Haha I can just imagine that, I bet you insantly knew why he was yelling! You might as well of kept it up though once the holes were in! Razz A 3' T12 Lightpack would be awesome, they also have the surface mount holes in the middle and wouldn't require extra holes!

I dunno why parents moan about holes in the ceiling as they are nothing that caulk wont hide!
Paul   [Jun 25, 2011 at 07:08 PM]
@kev - that's parent logic for you, they have to have the last say no matter how illogical it is!
SuperSix   [Dec 11, 2011 at 02:50 PM]
Just thought I'd mention and I'm sure you lot know, this fitting's doubled in length without anyone noticing Wink

Ive asked my parents about putting a twin 8ft fitting into my room and they said absolutely no way. More recently asked about a 4ft thorn pop pack and that was a no. but seems I may be able to get a LP20
SuperSix   [Jul 21, 2015 at 08:35 PM]
I remember being in a similar situation. If your parents are really that concerned about holes in the ceiling then go for either a 2' or 3' LP. They're suitable for central mounting!

That's why I originally had the 2ft light ideas plugin light for a few years until they got used to the idea. It was probably no bad thing in a way as the lighting circuit was still the original rubber & cotton sleeved cable from the 1920s that disintegrated as soon as it was moved!

"I'm normally banging on about how crap it looks!"
Standard "shite white" is an odd one. On some surfaces (normally white ones) that it reflects off, it looks gross. However with a bit of colour involved, like the wall and ceiling here, I find its appearance is transformed.
