The original style of slimline batten and the first fitting to feature the 3 different lampholder positions allowing the tube to be uesd sideways on either side. Other manufacturers such as Tamlite soon copied this!

I notice the fitting has got dimples in the side of the fitting - the same as my thown 8 watt - prob from around the same era

Yes, they're knockouts for when push/pull switches are installed.
