Comments: | I got this one off a mate, I didn't really have anywhere to put it so it's replaced the 18W lightpack. I've got the GE colour 35 tube that came with this but I've fitted a Philips 33 one instead to go with the other tubes in my room. |

Ah... the Fitzgerald 20W T12 Lightpack! My first fitting, way back in 1987!!!

A good substitute for Thorn's original T12 Pop Pack. Is that a red electronic starter? The Pulsestarters are usually green, the older versions were brown up to the early 90s. Was that tube from Homebase by any chance?

Yes it's an Arlen Pulsestarter, the EFS300 type though. Been after one for years but had no success, that was also from a mate I had over. Starts the tubes really quickly by pulling half wave DC through the choke to increase the preheat current. With T12s they rectify for a split second and then start kinda like quickstart, with T8 it's bright end glow and then they start. Yes the tube was from Homebase, US made.
