Is it me or do those fittings look very ahead of their time for 1948? Very sleek considering the huge ballasts and BC holders!

Ah I love the old wiring. I bet these are installed so much better than the thrown above the ceiling P clip Crap most electricians out in these days. I wonder if these are BC holders?

It's more than likely these bad boys have BC holders as well as the big fat 4 pin starters (or maybe the even older SBC glow bulb type?) as they're 5' 80w and this was in 1948. They would still be going strong to this day if it was'nt for the usual rip it all out refurb that happens every 20 years or so!

These fittings take me back,there used to be a shoe shop near my dads place that had very similar fittings I remember one of them had a dud starter and the woman who ran the place used to run a sweeping brush the length of the the tube and it would flicker into life.funny the things you remember from when I was a kid.
