Thanks for posting this Super_Six, great to see! What would this have been used for, I understand why the flicker neon flame lamps were used... what would this lamp have intended for?

I presume these were used as night lights for kid's rooms, landings etc? Awesome old lamp!! That brass BC holder completes the look! Very Happy

I'm guessing it would just be a night light too, not really sure though! It flickers a little too.

LOL My Grandpa's idea of a nightlight was a neon panel indicator wired into a BC adaptor! We also used the flicker flame neon candle lamps too which would frighten my younger sister! She thought it would set fire to her hair! Bless!

Looking at that coiled outer electrode, you'd have to be careful not to jolt the lamp whilst it's running otherwise a short would occur! Shocked Totally awesome lamp mind! :woohoo:

These would darken after many hours use so only light on special accasions the cheap cr.py Chinese ones blacken much sooner as they do not use Swedish iron electrodes a great pity, also should the electrodes touch during vibration no probs as these take very little current and have a resistor in the base (wire wound) if permanently shorted then would overheat and may burn out the resistor, hope this helps
