Album name: | T8 To T10 |
Manufacturer: | Thorn EMI |
Model: | 18W Polylux 3500 |
Cap Type: | G13 |
Light Colour Temp: | 3500K |
Lifespan: | I reckon 12,000 - 15,000 hours? Were standard T8s from this period as reliable as they are now? |
Comments: | One of the oldest triphosphor lamps in my collection; perhaps only beaten slightly by my black base SLs. This is a nice example - 3500 in triphosphor is a decent colour and nice to see a triphosphor lamp of proper collectible age. Oodles of mercury and no doubt a long reliable lifetime. Doesn't work well on dimmed gear as they just go a sickly pink colour. |

Awesome old tubes! I had the exact same tube in my room at home throughout my teenage years and into my 20s. I still have it!

Hah yes! So it is! Bizzarely, these tubes are the EXACT same date code as the first 18w Polylux 3500 I bought back in 1989, right down to the week! June 1987 if I remember rightly. I think Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody was their birthday number one! With regards to lifespan, these lamps were only rated at something like 12,000 hours but went well beyond the 20K mark along with their halophosphor Pluslux underlings!
