Comments:Here I have converted a 2008 MK12 Thorn Beta 5 from SOX to 2x8w Fluorescent. I made a new gear tray and kept the SOX gear tray intact so it could be very easily converted back to SOX one day with little trouble. This replaces the 18w SOX Philips XWC that has become troublesome this last 8 months. It currently has a couple of well used 8w Sylvania tubes from the late 80s/early 90s as I didn't want to use any of my really old tubes. Of course I would never do this to an older Beta 5!

Wow! Very reminiiscent of the old twin 40w lanterns! How does it fare on light output and spread Rob? Couple of TL Master 840s would suit it nicely!

I`m guessing the prismatic bowl will distribute the light quite well?, a twin 26watt PL version would be bright!
