A while back I was looking for a 4w choke to convert a dead thorn emergency bulkhead (that looks like a GLS bulkhead) I tried some electronic ballasts, but some just roasted the tube, (though a matchbox blue seems to be ok) but obviously Id rather go down the SS route.. having seen some of the recent ballasts on here, at least I know what to look for now. lovely old thorn choke btw Wink

Yes it's odd how running the 4w tube at double power seems to be the norm. Dedicated 4w ballasts have existed but hen's teeth springs to mind! Tridonic did a 6w choke that would be better suited but again, few and far between! Love the converted EM bulkhead idea Jools!

Cool, don’t ever remember seeing a genuine 4watt SS choke??
