I knew a chap who had a pair of lightboxes each with 8 x 221mm striplites arranged in a star formation on a 4 channel circuit. There was an arch section which went across the top made up of BC pygmies! They looked proper retro awesome!

Thanks chaps, produces a lovely bright blue!

Sounds like an awesome set up Tom but very fragile! Surprised I don't suppose you know of any suppliers of coloured striplights now?
Tom   [Mar 23, 2013 at 03:36 PM]
There was a company called Light Engineering in London E17 that supplied them IIRC. That was back in the 90s tho. Not sure if they're still going as their site just goes to some sort of holding page. May be worth phoning them. The odd disco shop that's been going for donkey's years may have a couple still on the shelves? Wish I could find some pics of that rig! Yes it was true retro awesomeness and he was going through lamps every other gig!

It's actually 221 millimetres = 0.725065617 feet (845⁄64 inches). Was busy working it out

LOL what!? Razz

I don't suppose anyone's ever come across bulkheads for striplights? I'm sure I've seen some 284mm twins before!
Tom   [Mar 24, 2013 at 09:31 PM]
I've never known or heard of a striplight bulkhead Eliot!? Did see some Linolite skeleton fittings set into a wall behind Perspex panels once tho!

I'll have to keep me eye out!

To think I was slating the things as being some of the worst lamps around and here I am banging on about them, in search of more! Rolling Eyes

Tom   [Nov 14, 2015 at 12:27 AM]
These were used in all sorts of decorative situations including disco lighting and on Top of The Pops! And yes, all the main colours were offered in both solid and clear. Never seen purple tho!

ok thanks tom it's a pity that they don't make S15 221mm & 284mm coloured in L.E.D.
SuperSix   [Nov 14, 2015 at 10:24 PM]
