Not seen a vehicle lamp with the filament style LEDs. Never thought that would happen, especially in a '501' lamp like this

Most car lighting you see now is LED, but why??, its not as if you need to save energy in a cars electrical system? Rolling Eyes

Best ones are the rear lights on some cars (VW in particular) that actually strobe the LED's. The car already uses a DC system, perfect for driving LED's, so why they feel the need to (...) with the supply so much as to cause a noticeable flicker, especially is you turn your head whilst looking at the lights. I hate following anything with lights like that on the back, really distracting!"

Recently bought a new car for the wife that has full* led lights, tbh the headlights are brilliant, just hoping they don't fail as can't imagine they'll be cheap to replace! Saving power in a car does in turn lead to less load on the alternator and thus save fuel, not sure how much exactly... *I'm sure the original advertising for said car (Seat Leon) said full led lights, yet it still has halogen front fog lights and reverse lights lol.

One thing I miss seeing on all LED cars is the 'throb' of the filament lamp indicators. Which is probably why some new cars still have them, despite the rest of the car being LED. The instantaneous light is good for brake lights tho. Just not so good for the driver sitting behind them in traffic lol. I don't understand the strobing of LEDs on cars either! Probably done to extend life at maximum output? But yes, it's quite a noticeable flicker! My biggest concern as above is long term reliability tho, as I'm the kind of driver who keeps vehicles beyond their tenth birthday! But back to this lamp, it looks an interesting little specimen! I'd be keen to try a couple in my van's sidelights!

Some of the LED brake lights are far to bright and dazzle, especially as they stay on when stopped, be this automatic parking brakes of someone keeping their foot on the brake, I absolutely despise the practice!

I did a moving message display project for my final year of my degree and indeed that involved briefly pulsing the LEDs with a higher than normal current to make them light up brightly. Otherwise they would be barely visible with the scanning as only one row of LEDs is lit at a time. There had to be a protection circuit so that they would not stay lit at that current if the processor crashed so that they didn't burn out.
