The original style of industrial fittings! Very simple constrction. Note the huge control gear housings on top to house those behemoth ballasts not dissimilar to the vintage 80w BTH ballast featured on this site (thanks SuperSix94!). This style could make a viable comeback as a slimmed down modern version based on T5s. The ballast housing could be a detachable pod to facilitate quick and easy replacement of those ever-failing HF ballasts!
