Yes these are rather poor lamps, colours are usually a bit off too compared to the standard colour 86!

I get that impression from these lamps, especially as 2 with cathodes rolling around inside were meant to be new! Cheapened, nasty, tat!

These are a total downgrade from the old Thorn/Philips/Sylvania made Crompton tubes we used to know! Crompton have fallen from grace in the linear fluorescent department IMO!

I can think of a couple, but not sure if they are still GB!

@Tom, Crompton can`t have fallen from grace since they were only putting their name on other peoples tubes to begin with! , did they ever make a tube of their own?

As far as I know, the last tubes Crompton made themselves (if any!) would've been 5 feet long, 80 watts and BC capped it was that long ago!

Wonder if they have been put on a shorter out ballast?
