Why, oh why, oh why have we ripped out most of our streetlighting heritage and replaced it with rubbish!? This is a perfect example, just how they used to make 'em!

I'm pretty sure that's an old 300-500w GLS lurking in there. Would be lush if it was an MA but substations were predominately GLS lit for instant light! Great to see the old phase colours on top of those insulators too. If that was in the new colours, they would be hardly distinguishable!

That's a lovely lantern. I like the column too, reminds me of being a kid again!

identical setup to some compounds down here. fabulous looking setup. must have been standard issue in the 50s

Alot of other subs around here, they've cut the heads off the columns and fitted halogens or SON floods!

You would have to be brave to re-lamp this, next to a 132KV bus!

down here they just bolted Thorn halogens down lower and left the GECs in situ :woohoo:
