My favourite group B SOX lantern! The staple of Oxford's side streets from ~1981 until the onslaught of LED. When I was a kid, these were replacing 125w MBF Eleco Silver Rays on hockey stick columns. If you see a Beta 5 with an exposed spigot, it would have originally had a Silver Ray. Now in rapid decline Sad You just know the LED lanterns that are replacing these with won't match the service period, not by a country mile!

I wonder just how much money Thorn made out of these?, even going back to AEI days, I`d love to know what the total sales figure was?

These and the Alpha One & Alpha 3 were staple diet lanterns around here! Later Alpha Fours took over.
