Comments:Here I have converted a 2008 MK12 Thorn Beta 5 from SOX to 2x8w Fluorescent. I made a new gear tray and kept the SOX gear tray intact so it could be very easily converted back to SOX one day with little trouble. This replaces the 18w SOX Philips XWC that has become troublesome this last 8 months. It currently has a couple of well used 8w Sylvania tubes from the late 80s/early 90s as I didn't want to use any of my really old tubes. Of course I would never do this to an older Beta 5!

Nice and neat, all that's missing is a 4uf PF cap!

I don't have a cap but it would complete it. I messed up a little as the top ballast fouled the connector block, preventing the gear tray closing properly. That connector is now on a separate bracket. With the photo cell socket and the socket for the spigot, it was surprising how little room there was to play with.

I might have one I can send you, if you want one.
