Most unusual indeed! Was lit courtesy of a variac, an essential bit of kit for any lamp collector!

Yes Paul it would be good to see this lit. @Tom. A variac is a very useful bit of kit but I've yet to find one that is affordable but I keep a look out on ebay.

A 40 Va tranny will do as i have a UK to US voltage converter. That lit Thorn mini pack wired backwards on the tranny.
