Well worth our little trip round the M25 eh Paul!
i have a 4ft twin one of these, does yours have the 2 big black ballasts in and a similar sized capacitor?
This.. is simply AMAZING!!! nice score Paul.

Thanks Dave... Sparkygav, this has an odd arrangement, didn't think to take a pic! It has a Philips ballast, a GEC ballast for the other side and an Ediswan capacitor. The GEC ballast and Ediswan capacitor look almost the same!

oh,i though mine first had 3 ballasts in it as the capacitor in mine was identical to the ballasts, only the label gave it away, the lamp holders were ahead of their time as well, mine has a metal reflector on it,exactly the same shape as yours and the same 4 fixing lugs,im strangely fond of mine

Fantastic! That's a seriously early four footer!

Good win & good save Paul.

Thanks everyone... I'm going to re-finish the body some point later this year. Keep the original cream coloured finish or go for commercial white or Atlas grey?
I'd go for original cream/beige white, contrasts nicely with the white Perspex trough. Certainly a very interesting combination of gear and wiring inside! And in the 1953 Philips catalogue, this is listed for a princely £15 1'4!

Very nice, never seen anything like this before?

You not remember the single version Kev has Rich? Bare batten fitting!
good win Paul what a gem

I remember these fittings but they were never a common sight but then at £15 back in 1953 they would be quite expensive. There was a shop I think was in Leicester had these fittings with the perspex reflector fitted upside down!
