Comments:I picked this one up today, had a very short life due to a ballast failure. Replaced it and it's as good as new! The SNK070 is basically an MI55 with more basic control gear packaged with a wall mountable bracket and a photocell.

This same model was used for mass replacement of all the mercury lanterns in a Norfolk village called Acle in around 1996. Was the first replacement scheme I'd seen - was quite novel having SON, but lost loads of GEC's, Silver rays and Diadems tho.

These are nice lanterns. Nice to know they haven't changed much over the years, there were a few wall mounts around my school! Used to be a few 80w MBF versions near me, easily identified by day with the yellowed bowls! MBF never really looked quite right in these lanterns!

theres a pair of these near us that are disconected and not working. theyre in a now council car park, and once had a Mercury Gamma 6, and the 2 of tehse lanters on hockey sticks. when the car park was revamped, they put some horrible metal haide lanterns in place, removed the gamma 6 and just forgot about the two SNK70's. they stand there today, so im gonna take aplunge at trying to rescue them.

I think Philips never designed these for clear lamps, I once converted a Beta 5 for a SON-T Plus, but it was a glair bomb, although the E lamps do look good in these and theres still some in use in Staffordshire, how bout a 50/80watt MBF in one?

I have one of these. I fitted mine with a philips dual wattage 50/80w merc ballast but it didn't look right running mercury so I converted it back to son. Mine needs a new bowl as it's rather brown.

I can't make up my mind what type of lamp looks best in this so I fitted a GE 70W pearl SON-E! Half way between clear and coated!

Me neither. I can't decide what looks right in these. I've been thinking about making a custom gear tray housing maybe 6 t5 8watters.
