Comments:The Atlas Kitchen Light, a stylish fluorescent fitting brought out in 1959 aimed at the domestic market. One of 16 products recognised in the Council of Industrial Design 'Designs of the Year'. The gear compartment would have originally contained an all in one Atlas Starter Lamp, used as both a ballast and starter to control a 4' 40W fluorescent tube whilst providing additional light.

That's a nice design and the kind of counter balance idea seems quite ahead of its time. Its a very elegant method of mounting the tube and gives a great lesson for contemporary design - especially with materials being at a premium. I imagine its still very robust and well made?

What a great find this was! So I guess the Netaline has now been relegated? Still, you've got something even rarer and more unique up there now with half the power consumption! Very Happy

I'm afraid the Netaline has at the moment, don't worry though, at some point I plan to swap it with the red one in the living room and put that one up over the other side of the room pointing the opposite way to the kitchen light. Is it just me that prefers this over the Mazda Netaline?
