Comments: | Absolutely hammered! Something that I find truly amazing about these lamps, run well beyond the rated life but still going. Although absolutely useless, I wouldn't even think about chucking it out! |

December 1989. Bet the poor thing was in service most of that time! I'd love to see how a greened out merc looks when just struck!
Yes I should imagine it was as it was removed from service last year! This produces a very poor dull blue glow when first lit.

Where was this Eliot? Neglected lantern somewhere?
the Hungary ge kolorlux were rubbish they always greened out early

All I know is this was removed from a car park somewhere in Cambridge, along with a load of other, more modern lamps last year. Nearly all the lamps were German Osrams and a few Hungarian GEs which were just as dim. Strange thing was though I found some dirty but unused lamps too, which were removed from some of the fittings!

this is really a german wotan or osram

Yes it is indeed!

equally as good as the gec

Yep it's a Later Varient as the GEC 125w Mercury Lamps I have seem to have a longer neck, some have a dimple like the GE Kolorlux Mercury Lamps too, which GEC did away with by 1985.
