Comments:Ready for the final EU phase out of ballasts in 2017, super low loss magnetic ballasts for T8s and a limited (for now) range of T5s. These are in the same EEI class as the most efficient non dimmable HF ballasts!

You could use a standard starter although you'd have to use a 155/800 70-125W starter as the lamp voltage would exceed the reclosure voltage of a 155/500. The problem is they'd get a very poor preheating leading to a shorter life! Electronic starters are certainly the reliable way forward and the only way for most of the T5s!

Any more news on these ballasts reaching our markets? Some of our luminaire manufacturers like Fitzgerald, Thorlux, Cooper, Designplan and such like could really kick some arse with this! I do like how VS are now owned by Panasonic!
