This brings back some fond memories! My Nan used to have a green one in her kitchen many moons ago. However it was hopelessly slow at starting owing to the resistive ballast. Obviously no amount of tube or starter changes made any differnce so it was finally replaced with a switchstart Tamlite fiting in 1994 which I believe has been 100% trouble free to this day!

I spotted what I believe is later version of this recently. It was flush mounted,(not sure whether the drop arm had been removed or not) and the end housing was a pale pink colour, more squared, perhaps with a switchstart ballast inside?

Very interesting, as far as I know the Netaline stayed like this until it was discontinued. Thorn carried on the production into the 70s, I'm not sure what colours they made them in. The original AEI colours were Yellow, Lilac and Blue, Red must have been a later colour.
