Last time I saw this fitting Paul and I were trying out our Blue and Radar Red tubes together in it! Must be a good 17 or 18 years ago! (God I feel old!) Good to see it again!

Bloody fantastic fitting Paul! Pristine condition too by the looks of things!

This design was very ahead of it's time back in the 1960s! Very modern design which set the standard, like it's single sister which still can be seen in the likes of the twin Crompack and Fitzgerald LPV, with this being better having independent lampholders!

Looks very clean. IMO superslims did seem to scratch and rust easy, Rare to see one in such good nick. Tom is right these were a stepping stone for which everyone followed however these will always be the best in my eyes!

Years ago (back when I was 10) the boat yard where my father worked as engineering manager had these in the engineering workshop. Oddly, most were missing their covers, which meant you could see inside, they had those lovely gold coloured chokes in them. All were 2x 65-80w 5'. I used to work there on a saturday for pocket money, probably before I was actually old enough to be doing something like that. I used to be allowed to change the lamps and must have re-lamped these fittings countless times. Sadly, these fittings were swept away years ago, the building was in dreadful need of a rewire - all VIR rubber cable and it burned down one night, so these would have been destroyed then. Oddly, they are the only twin Superslims I've ever seen in person. They didn't look much at the time, missing cover plates and black with oil and grime, but not one of them ever failed, unlike loads of the more modern fittings around the place. There were some old bayonet fittings in there too, all with bayonet lampholders removed, bi-pin lamps installed and using a bit of terminal strip to connect the wires to the lamp. As the 4-pin starters in those failed, I got to replace them with new fittings - must have been about 14 then!

Update to my above comment: I now own 3 of these fittings, all in an absolutely awful condition! One will be stripped for spares to fix the other 2 up, one of which I'll sell, the other I'll keep and put into service. These all have troughs too!
