Comments:Here we have a multi function 8w U tube lantern, thanks Danny for this, I had one of these in 1996 when Argos sold them under the Busy Body brand. Here it's been cleaned, had a new sealed lead acid battery as the original was completely dead and after a bit of switch cleaner on the temperamental switch is as good as new. This can be used as an emergency lantern if left powered up and switched on during charge, it will light if power is lost. It's not easy to source replacement tubes for this now.

I remember Argos selling these back in the 90s too but never owned one! Was always intrigued by the 8w U tube as it sounded like a U bent 8w T5! I'm surprised these weren't 4 pin 9w PL based TBH.

Could you post up a pic of the tube in this lantern?

Argos always used to have a great range of torches. The rot set in when LED torches started to appear Sad
