Comments: | I want to nick the lamps out of it but the screws are all rusted. I'm guessing it is SB as there doesn't appear to be gear nearby and the blackening at the top would suggest it is SB. |

Yeah I think it's been used as a rubbish bin as it's right next to a footpath. 1kW SBMV are around but are getting rare. I used to have a couple of very-used 750w versions made back in the days when EYE lamps were quality, unlike now. The filaments were so tough in them that the arc tube would degrade before the filament died until in the end all the light would come from the filament and hardly any from the arc tube, if it still struck up. One of the two 750w versions I had would take hours to strike and when it did it would take out the fuse as the start-up current was so high.
