Comments:I saw two of these hanging above the front windows of an old 2nd hand store in Tasmania. These two fittings are the only T17's I've ever seen. You don't realise how thick the tubes are till you see them in person. I've been advised by a collector in the USA that this tube was made in the first quarter of 1964.

Fitting looks in good shape! Definitely needs saving! Plugged into a BC pendant by the look of it, no earth!

Are singles pretty rare over there? The other fitting looks the same but the tube has brass caps. I couldn't see the stamp though.

All the pictures of T17 fittings I've ever seen have been doubles (same for the few times I've seen T17 ballasts on eBay).
Doubles are the most common by far with standard 4' / 8' T12 & T8...but you do see some singles in 4' (and ofcourse shorter singles are common)
