T12s really do look the part in these fittings! Whilst the build quality is quite a departure from the original, these certainly do win on the useablity front!

I agree Tom, the build quality is starting to go downhill with these fittings. If the original had been able to take T12 lamps then that would have been the best. Metal is thin and flimsy on this and instead of springs, the lampholders are held in place by plastic clips on the lampholders, locating into slots in the spine.

Looks good, a perfect fit. I've found these do tend to rattle being held together with plastic and need clobbering every now and then to shut them up!

Is this the pre 1990s one?, the starter switch seems to have moved!!
July 1990 I think...
Yeah, just checked with the catalogue, the starters were only almost central on the 15watt ones, all other sizes its near to the lampholders.

t12 looks perfect in these. Might get a 2ft arrowslim and convert it to 12v for use in the van.
Sounds like a plan Jonny!

the tubes fit better if you rotate the lampholders so the motor, and the coverplate clips are on the side of the fitting

Good point jools! Talking of the latest thorn a couple years ago they changed their cat 2 fittings to these little flaps that hold the lovure in place. Absolute trash!
Indeed it does Jools.
And to think the T12 compatibility was purely accidental! Imagine an 8' version? AS2400! Those Cat 2 fittings sound truly evil Kev!
