Awsome, this was when stuff was built to last, I bet if you could go back in time and say to the designers at Benjamin that fluorescent battens in 2012 would be nasty thrown together things that only last a few years, they would escort you off the premises! Laughing

I bet! Anyone got any ideas how to preserve this legend on the fitting if we re-finish it? I think it is screen printed on.

i had this problem when i needed to re create atlas label,in the end i had to scan one to re produce it

Yes I had to do the same with an Atlas label, scan in, photoshop it and reprint it!

i'd try Brasso or T-cut on the metalwork tbh. looks like its just a bit grimy from age. i'd use masking tape over the label as well, and then sut around it with a stanley knife. works all the time for me, however i remove it when the paints just skinned over, that way if any paint has seeped under the tape, i still have a chance of removing it without damaging the label.

If someone can get me a decent photo of the damaged label I can certainly have a shot at repairing it graphically. Can't guarantee anything but could certainly give it a shot. Not likely to be until after Christmas/new year though.

Well chaps restoration is finally well underway! Body has been stripped and awaits the final coat. Paul is working on a replica label as we speak! Then it's a full rewire with red and black .75mm tri-rated cable and reinstate the original Bulgin 3 pin round plug and socket! Gonna be awesome! :woohoo:

Look forward to seeing this when fully restored! Smile Is it possible to post up a pic of the Bulgin plug and socket?
