Im guessing this is now shut down? Production moved to china?

Actually they shifted it to Tunisia, Crompton/Cooper/Global Lighting is now right nextdoor to the Sylvania lampworks in Kairouan.

I can confirm - as I live 5 mins away, that this closed in 2002 sadly. Made for some GREAT Urbex!

That's what happened downunder too. The ZELMA lamp factory in Wellington New Zealand that made tubes up to the late 1980's and incandescents up to the late 1990's got demolished to make way for apartments. The ELMA lamp factory in Newcastle Australia shut down in the early 2000's. Not sure if it still exists or not.

E.L.M.A. is still there but it is a second hand dealer now at the front and the bulk of it is "Storage King" self storage. Here is the Google Maps location, looking down the driveway with the art deco office block on the right and the main plant on the left an elivated, covered walkway joins the two.

What I want to know, is the exact location of the Panmure plant in Auckland.
We has three other smaller lamp plants in Australia, Lumolite in Newtown, Sydney, Mitchells /Astrol, which was A.C.I. Glass at 154 Partamatta Road, Camperdown, Sydney, and Lugon in Melbourne. not sure which suburb. All are long gone. Here is a URL...

(I have only one Mitchell branded lamp, in a collection exceeding 10,000, so they are not common!)
As for Z.E.L.M.A., it was Located on the corner of Tauhinu Road and Byron Street, Miramar, Wellington, New Zealand. It closed in 1999 and the buildings were demolished in 2000. It was close to where the West Film Studios are located today.
