My first CFL was an SL too but got broken after a few months when I clumsily dropped it aged about 12.

Great pic! Yes my first CFL was an SL too! Looks like there was a whole club of us out there who never knew about each other back then!

Wow, hand made, no wonder they were so expensive and well-made. Vicar, funny the same thing happened to me at around the same age too. My first SL (25w BC) cost me NZ$45 in around 1990 which was a LOT of money at the time for a 12 YO and it rolled off the chair onto the carpet and broke the tube inside. I'd only had it a couple of weeks.

I first saw one in a pub in 1987, we were there for a Boxing day lunch, it wasn`t long after that I had one in my room I remember what a better colour it was, after years and years of the humble GLS.

Imagine SLs were quite a few of our firsts. SL*13W Comfort (would have been around 92 or 93) was mine. Seemed to take me forever to find any once I started collecting properly then they seemed to start multiplying entirely of their own accord!
