Comments:I've seen countless numbers of these, brand new but faulty. This is another! They all seem to suffer from the same problem where they just repeatedly attempt the startup phase, preheating and then briefly lighting the lamps over and over, until the whole thing goes up with a bang! Now the standard ballast in all Crompacks and Popular Packs.

Interesting. Imagine the fault must lay with some form of current sensing meaning that the controller assumes that the lamp isn't passing any current. You'd think though that any sensible designer would ensure though that it would just shut down quietly in that situation though (i.e. like an SS ballast with electronic starter)...Granted though, would mean they sold less replacements...

Yep been seeing these for the last year or so they are now made in china instead of Austria. Also to make matters worse they are a different size so when replacing countless failed Austrian PC ballasts these are longer annoying in crompak fittings as the bolt is pressed in to the fittings! :doh:
